If you’ve been keeping up with my posts, then you know I have a tendency to constantly explain how badly I want and need a new beginning. What I didn’t realize though, is that you don’t get a new beginning. You get new beginnings. You can’t start completely over, forgetting your past and who you are. You can elaborate on the parts of life you enjoy, and pay less attention to those that bother you. New beginnings are everywhere. I didn’t even realize it until I was sitting on a some-how-comfortable metal chair, upon a wooden deck, with a beautiful view of a river. I’m surrounded by people who accept me for who I am, and those that don’t can walk away.
There are new beginnings in:
-New schools
-New people
-Risks
-Experiences
-Loss of a family member
-Gaining a family member
-Divorce
-Marriage
-Dad’s new girlfriend/boyfriend
-Mom’s new girlfriend/boyfriend
-Traveling
-Breakups
-Mondays
New beginnings are surrounding us, and all we need to do is simply grasp them and make the best. Of course, some can be devastating, but it can’t rain forever. With the loss of a family member comes closer bonds in the family. With gain of a family member comes love and acceptance, and the ability to change someone’s life. With divorce eventually comes peace. With a parent’s new interest comes new people to be introduced to, fresh starts within themselves. With breakups comes happiness, freedom, and love from those you love.
Every new beginning is a fresh start. Simply find one and seize the day, Carpe Diem.
